Biography

Working on the frontlines of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical research for over twenty years, I have seen first-hand the impact that protein nutrition has on weight management, sports performance, and overall health. From the body’s most basic functions to its most arduous athletic achievements, protein’s role in metabolism is crucial.

I have always been into working out and staying active, even while earning my doctoral degree in pharmacology and toxicology. After graduating, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work on pharmaceutical projects investigating metabolism and growth, and researched drugs such as insulin and human growth hormone. I also directed an analytical chemistry lab, doing amino acid analysis and sequencing, and designing novel drug delivery systems.

As the current Director of Research and Development at Triarco, I find the potential of natural bioactives and plant-based ingredients to be truly inspiring. Here I am able to take my passion for sports and sports nutrition and apply my expertise in human metabolism and phytochemistry.

Using the same techniques used in pharmaceutical drug development and analysis, we study natural bioactives and have developed over nine patented formulations, many of them enzymes. I have published some of our most interesting work in publications such as the Journal of Herbal Pharmacology.

When speaking or giving lectures, I am frequently asked questions on protein nutrition and enzymes. Emerging research is confirming the importance of protein, not just for sports performance and muscle growth, but for muscle repair, lean mass maintenance – even weight management and cardiovascular health.

The Aminogen blog is a great place to foster communication between scientists and keep the dialog on protein nutrition going. And of course, I can answer questions about Aminogen, too.
